Inventor Publisher and the iPad

Inventor Publisher allows me to take Autodesk Inventor Assembly models (and other model formats) and animate the assembly process into:

A step-by-step instruction document via Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe PDF
Videos of the assembly animation (that can be hosted online and provided to customers for consumer use and understanding)
Mobile format of the assembly animation via the Inventor Publisher Mobile Viewer app (currently available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch)

After exporting the Inventor Publisher Assembly document to the Inventor Publisher Mobile Viewer format, I can transfer the file via iTunes into the Mobile app. Now, when I sync my iPad via iTunes I can launch the Inventor Publisher Mobile Viewer app and watch the animation presentation on the iPad.

This is extremely helpful when I am performing maintenance on machinery in the field. I no longer need a physical copy of the instruction manual. I have the instructions to repair, swap out parts, perform maintenance, etc. right in the palm of my hand on my iPad. I can zoom, rotate, display component spec’s (the Inventor iProperties), and play and pause the animation of the instructions as needed to perform the maintenance. This allows me to quickly perform the maintenance without having a physical copy of the instruction manual or spec sheet.
