South Bend, Indiana -- South Bend Controls endured a
difficult year in 2009 when the manufacturing industry was
hit especially hard from the recession. The Company,
which builds aerospace products and medical control devices
for companies such as Boeing, Honeywell, and Eaton, has been
in business since 1940.
The times, however,
are changing. Charlie Schenk, Director of Engineering
at South Bend Controls, has seen a sharp upturn in business
over the past few months. Schenk said, "Following the
economic decline in 2009, and subsequent layoffs at South
Bend Controls, we were faced with new challenges as we had
to recover quickly and react to the upturn. Business
is really coming back, and we're receiving orders from both
current and new customers."
While the economic
recovery brings welcome relief, it also poses new challenges
for companies like South Bend Controls. According to
Schenk, "We approached Hagerman & Company about providing
engineering services as we were looking for someone with a
defined skill set. We needed an Inventor expert who
could hit the ground running. Hagerman's Engineering
Services have enabled us to execute on a program that
otherwise would have resulted in a missed business
opportunity."
