New Low Cost Productstream Options
for Vault Users
With the release of Productstream 2008, Autodesk has
added enhancements to its low cost Productstream Reviewer
and Productstream Explorer modules, making them an excellent
addition to any standard Autodesk Vault deployment. As a
result, we strongly encourage our existing Vault customers
and those considering implementing Autodesk Vault to take a
look at what these products can do for you.
Added features available to customers with Productstream
Reviewer include:
-
Full Vault access for non-CAD users (not a new feature)
-
Folder level security to allow different users different
levels of access to the various folders and sub-folders
in Vault (not a new feature)
-
Automatic file naming allowing you to conform to your
company’s file naming and numbering standards using
predefined naming schemes and sequences
-
Batch printing/plotting of user selected files, all
files in a folder or all drawings associated with a
selected assembly with full support for setting plot
parameters, saving and recalling plot lists,
watermarking and plot stamping
-
Easy, inexpensive, floating search-view-print access for
other company departments using the web-based
Productstream Explorer
-
Automated workflow for ECO/engineering change order
processing
Productstream Reviewer’s engineering change capabilities
give users the ability to track, audit, and monitor
engineering change orders, remove process bottlenecks,
approve or deny changes and improve the efficiency of the
engineering change process. Built-in forms provide standard
and user-defined ECO information to participants for review,
approval, or printing, helping to reduce errors associated
with paper-based processes and to help ensure that decision
makers have access to complete product information.
Other major features for automated ECO’s in Productstream
Reviewer include:
-
The ability to keep an electronic record of changes,
track comments such as notes and redlined drawings
associated with an ECO.
-
Routing of engineering changes in parallel to engineers,
reviewers, and
approvers throughout the design team thus cutting down
on ECO completion time
-
Automatic generation of emails to alert engineers when
they have tasks to perform or downstream users when
changes are made and new designs are complete
-
Automatic ECO/change order numbering using pre-defined
naming and numbering schemes
-
Multiple routing options to support companies that need
differing personnel assignments depending on the type of
change, urgency/priority, manufacturing facility,
product line, etc. or need additional checks and
approvals as part of their workflow
In addition, Autodesk has released the new Productstream
Replicator module as an add-on to both Vault and
Productstream. The module is designed for companies that
need to share AutoCAD, Inventor and other file types across
multiple design and/or manufacturing locations in a timely
and synchronized manner. The Productstream Replicator
provides global sharing of common designs via automatic
synchronization of check in/check out operations and file
changes across vaults at multiple company sites and helps
ensure that all designers are working from the most current
design while still providing them with the benefits of local
storage and performance. Productstream Replicator is the
most cost-effective multi-site replication product we have
seen available on the market.
For customers who need more advanced capability, the higher
cost Productstream Creator module is, of course, still
available and includes additional features and capabilities
