Autodesk announces Home Use Policy for products
Effective immediately, Autodesk has introduced a Home Use Policy, a new, exclusive benefit for commercial subscription customers. Under the Autodesk Home Use Policy, subscription customers may, after completing an ancillary agreement, install their office software media for eligible products on a home computer for business use.

Standalone license customers will use their existing serial number for a second installation at home. Network license customers will be required to submit a Home Use License Application (HULA) form to Autodesk. After approval by Autodesk, the customer will be issued a home use “companion” serial number to be used to activate standalone installations on home computers. Contact Hagerman & Company for more information on this new benefit for Autodesk subscription customers.

Home Use Policy FAQs
What is Home Use?
Home Use is a benefit available only to Autodesk Subscription customers. Home Use means that you, as the licensee of the software program, may install a second copy of the software program at a second location away from your office location under the following conditions:

1. Such second location may include installation on a computer located at the home of your employees or on your employees’ personal computers.
2. The use of the software program when installed at such second location shall be to produce work related to your internal business needs or for your employee’s personal education or training needs. This Home Use benefit only applies for as long as your software program is under Subscription and only to the number of licenses of the software program that are under Subscription.

Who is eligible?
Subscription customers with one or more eligible products on a current Subscription may use the benefit. Network license holders must apply to obtain a companion standalone serial number. Only commercial licenses are eligible.

What products are eligible?
Most Autodesk products are eligible. In general, enterprise / server based products, and those that do not require activation, are not eligible for Home Use. NFR (Not for Resale) and EDU (Education) licenses are not eligible. For a complete list, visit the Subscription Center.

How do I apply for a Home Use license?

If you have a standalone license that you wish to use at home, you do not need to apply. If you have a network license, you must apply to obtain the companion standalone serial number.

Standalone license holders should install their Autodesk software on the home computer using the original Autodesk media, then use the existing serial number to obtain the appropriate authorization code.

Network license holders should fill out the Home Use License Application and send it to Autodesk as instructed. When the approval is received from Autodesk, follow the instructions.

What if I have a Multiseat Standalone license?

The Home Use Program treats Multi-seat Standalone licenses like standalone – you can use your primary license serial number to activate an installation on a home machine.

Where do I go for more information?

Subscription customers may sign in to the Subscription Center and will find more details on the Home Use benefit, including the Ancillary Service description, eligible product list, and Home Use License Application, by looking in the Products and Downloads section on their home page.
