Autodesk Revit Structure 3: Applying line loads and producing a schedule

In Autodesk Revit Structure 3, applying loads to your BIM is a relatively simple procedure. In this exercise we will work with line loads.

To use the load tools you will need to select the “Modeling” tab, then “Loads.”

Now after selecting the line load from the Options bar, select “Properties” to place your 0.5 Kips/ft along the Y axis for column D for the roof level.

After selecting the line load from your Options bar, again select “Properties” to place your 0.75 Kips/ft along the X axis for column 1 for the roof level.

Adding Tags to loads are just as easy as adding tags to doors. Select the “Drafting” tab, click “Tad” then choose “By Category.”

In the “Line Loads” field, choose “Load Tag” if prompted, then tag the load lines placed on the roof earlier.

To schedule the loads, select your “View” drop-down or sidebar, “New Schedule/quantities,” then “Line Loads.”

Now add Load case, Description, Nature, Fx1, Fy1, Fz1, and Uniform Load in the fields area.

Click “OK” and your line load schedule is complete. Now add to your sheet with a view, and you’re ready to go.
