Proplanner: New
solutions for the manufacturing workspace
Hagerman and Company recently teamed up with Proplanner and
their suite of products to offer manufacturing clients a unique
tool to help determine how and where products are made and
handled. There are two basic solutions, one for direct labor and
one for indirect labor.
For direct labor, Proplanner’s Workspace Planner solution can be
used by manufacturing or process engineers. The Workspace
Planner solutions will utilize your AutoCAD 2002 or later layout
to do the following:
1) Create people flow diagrams that show how people and parts
flow though your workspace.
2) Animate people and part movement from within the workspace
for validation and/or educational purposes
3) Provide accurate reports of distance and time associated with
people travel from within the workspace.
4) Calculate the energy used by the workers within the
workspace.
5) Help you determine the number of people required in a
workspace for the level of production you need.
6) Help you determine the percentage of work that is adding
value versus that work which is not adding value, including
walking, picking up or setting down parts or tools.

For indirect labor, the Flow Path Calculator solution can also
be used by manufacturing or process engineers. The Flow Path
Calculator will also utilize your AutoCAD 2002 layout to
1) Create people and material flow diagrams that show how people
and materials flow through your factory.
2) Determine the distance, cost and time associated with
material travel within a particular AutoCAD layout.
3) Calculate the number of material handling people required for
the production that you need.
4) Help you determine if fork trucks, conveyors or other
equipment is needed to move the material around the factory.
5) Determine if your aisles needed wide enough.
6) Help you decide where to put a new machine or define a new
workplace.
Before

And After

The Proplanner solutions will help your reduce the time required
to launch newly designed processes into your manufacturing
environment or help you better understand your current process
and where and why you might have bottlenecks.
We are very excited about these new solutions for our clients
and have scheduled a series of upcoming events, for you to take
a closer look at the software. For more information, please
visit our Web site for more details or contact a Hagerman &
Company associate.
