AutoManager Meridian and TeamWork Updates
Over the past few months, Cyco Software has released a number of
major and minor revisions to its AutoManager Meridian and TeamWork
software that have addressed a number of customer issues and added a
number of new features. Since not all of our customers are running one
of these most current versions of AutoManager, we thought we would
outline some of the major new features and capabilities of each of the
versions.
AutoManager Meridian/TeamWork 2004e – Released Spring 2005:
Tremendous server memory management and performance increases. Issues
with server memory loss and performance decreases on installations with
large numbers of users and/or documents have been resolved. Some
customers are reporting up to 30X performance increases on operations
which were formerly slow
AutoManager Meridian/TeamWork 2005 – Released August 2005:
Additional improvements in memory management and performance
For Inventor 9 and 10, the AutoManager Add-in now adds a new browser
window that shows the file structure of the assembly, including the
workflow statuses the part and subassemblies have in the AutoManager
vault. Also basic AutoManager commands are available for each file
through the context menu, such as the workflow commands and 'where
used'.
AutoManager Meridian/TeamWork 2005a – Released October 2005:
Global Search will significantly improve the existing search
functionality in AutoManager that will enable users to search over
multiple Cyco AutoManager vaults. The Global Search is only available
for Cyco AutoManager Meridian. Furthermore, Cyco has included a number of
other improvements to the search functionality that are available to
both new products.
Briefcases. Within the process of creating engineering data, companies
often work with multiple external parties adjusting or completing the
engineering data. Engineering data therefore is sent to the external
contractor who will make changes to the documents and add additional
files to the documentation set sent out. It is quite common though that
multiple parties are involved and all need a (different) subset of the
documentation. The BriefCase is intended to support the process of
exchanging engineering data with external parties. While the asset owner
or manufacturer is working with AM-Meridian, his external contractors
may not be working with AM-Meridian.
A BriefCase is a container to transmit documents and selected property
data to external parties. Documents can be simply copied to a BriefCase
for information, or checked-out and locked to a BriefCase, so that no
further work is possible on these documents without some further
BriefCase related action. A completed BriefCase is a single file with
the file extension .BRC. These can be opened with the View BriefCase
command of either AutoManager Meridian or AutoManager TeamWork, and can
also be opened using AutoManager View. To support management and
auditing of document exchange with external parties, transmittal reports
can be created, sent out and archived automatically.
In addition all versions have minor improvements in areas such as CAD
integration, properties, security, workflow, printing, archiving,
importing, viewing, web access, customization
