AutoCAD Electrical 2006
In AutoCAD® Electrical 2006 many
additions have been made to give users the functionality they have
requested.
For your schematics and designs, good manufacturer data is key to
automating electrical projects. In AutoCAD Electrical 2005, over 43,000
new catalog components were added, now in AutoCAD Electrical 2006, we’ve
added over 2,000 new PLC I/O modules. These are modules requested by our
users and come from the industries most recognized brand names.

Since Autodesk is continually delivering more content updates, users
have asked for a way to merge the new data in with their existing data.
With AutoCAD Electrical 2005, Autodesk introduced the merge utility for
the catalog database entries. In AutoCAD Electrical 2006, this function
has been taken another step further by expanding the merge utility to
handle PLC content, manufacturer catalog content, footprint and panel
library content. This enhanced feature now gives users the ability to
take advantage of all new content while protecting all of their existing
content.
The most common electrical design workflow is for the user to create the
electrical schematics first and then generate the corresponding physical
panel layout drawings. Many customers have asked to reverse that
workflow to allow them to start with a physical control panel drawing
and let that drawing drive the creation of the schematic.
In AutoCAD Electrical 2006, you can do just that. Users can start with
an existing panel layout drawing or create one from scratch. From that
drawing, AutoCAD Electrical will create a list of everything that shows
up in the panel that needs to show up in the schematic or logical layout
drawings. AutoCAD Electrical keeps track of which components have been
inserted helping to ensure an accurate design.

AutoCAD Electrical now supports the multiple document interface (MDI)
environment. Users have been asking for the ability to have multiple
drawings open simultaneously and now it’s available in AutoCAD
Electrical 2006.

If these enhancements to AutoCAD Electrical interest you, then I am sure
that you will want to spend a few minutes and contact your Hagerman &
Company sales representative for additional literature.
