EdgeCAM 9

EdgeCAM 9

Pathtrace’s release of EdgeCAM® version 9 is sure to raise a few eyebrows when investigating manufacturing software. Never before have you seen a CAM system this powerful and yet this easy to use. Pathtrace has done a remarkable job with the user interface and has made it extremely easy for you to customize the software to your specific needs. From an end user stand point simply tell the software what it is that you want to do, answer a few simple questions and then the software gets out of your way and does what you asked. If you are an existing EdgeCAM user and not yet on version 9 then now is the time to upgrade. This release will make you even more productive. Some of the new features include;

Improved workflow with new user interface
The modern interface can be customized to use drag-and-drop techniques and frequently used functions can be put right at your fingertip. Autohide windows fold away when they are not needed and are opened back up with a simple move of the mouse.

Enhancements to the Browser
You can now grouping instructions by tool, index or synchronization point. Great visual feedback from the graphics screen to the Browser and from the Browser to the graphics screen. Excellent searching capabilities and color highlighting of missing or deleted information.

New Machining Operations and Dialog
New operations include chamfering, flatland finishing, roughing and profiling and the new dialog is a welcome addition to the new user.

Roughing Cycle Enhancements
You now have a new Adaptive Feedrate option giving much better control of upper and lower federates based on material, stock, etc. and again, you get great graphic feedback from the graphics screen on the changing federates. Spiral tools paths are now supported giving you yet another option on how best to rough machine a part or area.

Profiling enhancements
Here you will find more options for entry and retract points give you more control over in those areas with little room to get in and out of. A new option has been added which will allow you to finish ledges more precisely, by machining down to the specified Z Offset from the top of island(s) and/or the base of pockets.

Miscellaneous Cycle Enhancements
With Parallel Lace you can now control the cut direction by the angle of the surface, so if your tool finds a wall that is more vertical than horizontal you are not caught in a situation of filling your tool flutes and running up the slope.

The EdgeCAM Strategy Manager captures all the knowledge and expertise currently in the minds of your programmers or machinist and saves it for quick and consistent recall. The Solid Machinist, which is unique in the industry, allows us to put a tool right on the engineers solid model, and this includes associativity meaning that when the call comes for an engineering change the update of tool path in manufacturing is a breeze.

There are other enhancements included in version 9 so please give us a call or drop us an email with any questions or to set up a person demonstration. EdgeCAM 9 is a must see for those of you investigating CAM systems of for existing EdgeCAM users on an older release.
