Dimension 3D Printers

Affordable RP technology, right in your office

Welcome to 2006, and an opportunity to decrease your product design cycle. At Hagerman & Company we have always offered our customers solutions to their problems. We now have a solution that will benefit many of you for making prototype parts. Hagerman has teamed up with Stratasys Inc. of Eden Prairie, Minn. to offer you the Dimension 3D printers. These printers allow you to control from your desk when, where, and how prototypes are constructed.

As a manufacturing engineer, this product truly excites me because it allows for STL files of 3D models to be printed in true shape and scale using strong ABS resin in an office environment. No more time wasted waiting on a quote from the Rapid Prototype (RP) vendor, then waiting on their lead time to produce the parts and ship them to you. With Dimention 3D printers, you can now send that STL file to a networked printing device in your building and start producing your ideas within minutes. This allows for faster evaluations of aesthetics, functionality, and strength if similar plastics are to be used in the final product. These qualities are due to the properties of the ABS resin as printed. These models are strong and usuable, unlike other RP processes that produce fragile, weak models. Once these evaluations are done, the concept can be modified as necessary until all design parameters are optimized. This networkable, office-friendly printer will open doors for your creative energies that until now you have only dreamed of.

The Dimension 3D printer is a self contained unit that runs on either 110V or 220V. It needs only the 3D STL file to create parts. Its overall size is 27 x 36 x 41 inches (686 x 914 x 1041 mm). The maximum build size is 8 x 8 x 12 inches (203 x 203 x 305 mm). Larger parts can be divided into smaller pieces and then glued together to form a large model. The Catalyst software used by the printer automatically imports STL files, orients the part, slices the file, generates support structures (if necessary), and creates a precise deposition path to build the ABS model. Multiple models can be packed within the build envelope to maximize efficiency. Catalyst provides queue management capabilities, build time, material status and system status information. Dimension 3D Printers can run unattended and provide system and build status information via e-mail, pager, or the Internet. The ABS resin comes in a variety of colors and contains 56.3 in3 of resin per spool. All these features combine to make a simple, accurate, user-friendly machine that will change the way you think about and use RP for your business.

If you are currently using outside sources for RP or would like to be able to produce your own models for customers, marketing, or production trials then the Dimension 3D Printers can quickly and affordably meet your needs.
