EdgeCAM Solid Machinist
With the increasing use of solid modeling software and
the availability of solid parts, CAM users should now be looking into
using these solids directly for creating their post outputs, and EdgeCAM
provides a means to do this with their Solid Machinist module.
 EdgeCAM
Solid Machinist uses automatic feature recognition to find machinable
features. With a single click all pocket, boss, turn profiles and hole
features are defined. Information from these features are then used to
select the correct tooling and manufacturing operations that can be
applied automatically, significantly reducing keystrokes, mouse clicks
and the time to generate NC code.
Feature Finding
EdgeCAM Solid Machinist uses automatic feature recognition to find
machinable features. With a single click all pocket, boss, turn profiles

keystrokes, mouse clicks and the time to generate NC code.
Advanced Machining
Solid models can now be machined using reliable gouge free roughing and
finishing cycles with intelligent approach methods. EdgeCAM optimizes
the machining times for high speed machining as well as increasing the
tool life. In addition, both multi-plane and multi-axis
 machining
for milling can be used as well as multi turret, sub
 spindle
and mill/turn for the turn environment.
Model Associativity
The associative link between the solid model and EdgeCAM means that
changes to the model will not be lost on the manufacturing side. Solid
Machinist will detect any changes in the model and give the user the
option to update the machining and recognize new, changed, or deleted
features. Once updated the machining is regenerated automatically and
new NC code produced.
