Hagerman & Company Offers Autodesk Productstream
As I’m sure most people have already heard, Autodesk has re-entered
the data management market with Autodesk Vault and Autodesk
Productstream. Hagerman & Company is offering full support and
implementation services for Vault and Productstream along with the Cyco
AutoManager Meridian and TeamWork products that we have been offering
for the past four years.
Autodesk Vault and Productstream are focused on the mechanical
design/manufacturing marketplaces. Anyone who has a current version of
Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical or AutoCAD Mechanical actually has
Autodesk Vault as part of their software package. Some of you may have
already implemented it.
Autodesk Productstream is a separately purchased product that extends
the power of Autodesk Vault with additional capabilities in the areas
of:
- Release management
- ECO/change order processes
- Bills of material
Whereas Vault is designed to be used only by your CAD users,
Productstream has modules which allow functionality to be extended to
the entire enterprise including:
- Purchasing
- Production Control
- Manufacturing
- Sales
- Etc.
Major features of Productstream include:
- Promote and Update Items from Autodesk Vault -
Automatically create items by promoting selected CAD design data.
Changes to CAD designs can result in the creation of new items or
updating of existing items.
- Revisions and Revision History - Control and review the
history of items using a flexible revision numbering scheme that
conforms to your company standard.
- Automated Item Numbering - Manage and enforce part
numbering by automatically assigning a unique number to items
according to your corporate standard
- Create Items Not Related to Files - Create and add new
items in Autodesk® Productstream™ in order to create complete
product bill of materials (BOMs).
- User-Defined Properties – Add any custom properties
required for your item master/ERP system or needed for easy
information search and retrieval
- Engineering Change Management - Create a process to
manage engineering change orders (ECOs) that enables you to approve
or reject all changes before release to manufacturing. Once changes
are approved, you can easily track, audit, and monitor them,
enabling you to quickly route changes to multiple people at the same
time and avoid delays caused by ECO packages getting stuck on
somebody’s desk.
- Lifecycle State Control - Track an item’s lifecycle state
with indicators that automatically increment when an item changes
state (“Work in Progress,” “Released,” and so forth) to ensure that
products are not released before the design is finalized
- 2D and 3D Viewing and Markup - The DWF™ (Design Web
Format™) file format makes it easy to view and mark up 2D and 3D
designs as part of an engineering change process.
- BOM Editing and Comparison - Add, delete, or override
quantities to maintain a true single product record and quickly
identify the differences between BOMs by automatically comparing
them.
- Where Used and Uses for Items - Analyze where items are
included in existing Bill of Materials (BOMs) before making changes
to the item. By revealing dependencies before making changes, you
eliminate unanticipated, potentially costly consequences.
Synchronization with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) – You can
import existing items from your ERP system into Autodesk
Productstream software, update the item master in Productstream as
needed and export BOM data for import into most mainstream ERP
systems.
At Hagerman & Company, we are very excited about being able to offer
this functionality to our Autodesk customer base. For more information
on Autodesk Productstream, feel free to contact your local Hagerman &
Company representative.
