2D Meets 3D.  Risk free.

Autodesk Inventor 10

Has it already been a year since Inventor 9 was released? Wow!!

I would like to take a few moments and let you know what has changed with the upcoming releases of Inventor 10 Series and Inventor 10 Professional. These are areas that I feel will enhance your ability to get the job done where the rubber meets the road. These enhancements are not just frills and gimmicks, they are items that you can use every day to meet and exceed your customer’s expectations.

A highly requested improvement is in the area of welds and weldments. It’s easier than ever to model welds in 3D and simulate weldment manufacturing processes. New features allow you to model gap and groove solid weld beads while enhancing fillet welds. Modify weld preparations with Move Face functionality. New analysis and reporting tools provide bead volume reporting and comprehensive interference detection on all weld types. The benefits— a streamlined workflow, optimized weldment design and documentation.

Move beyond sketching and constraints and accelerate design by working with parts that are based on mechanical relationships rather than geometric descriptions. Use the engineer’s handbook, mechanical calculators, and component generators, part of the new design accelerator, to automate the process of creating parts and assemblies that are based on real-world attributes such as speed, power, and material properties.

Design Accelerator functionality includes a dynamic engineering reference database called the Engineer’s Handbook, interactive Mechanical Calculators that encapsulate standard mathematical formulas and physical theories and Component Generators to create frequently used machine parts based on real-world attributes such as speed, power and material properties. Accelerate design by moving beyond 2D drafting and 3D modeling, where designs are based in terms of mechanical relationships, rather than geometric (lines, arcs and circles) descriptions and constraints.

Another area that has been requested by many customers is the ability to make photo realistic renderings of their models. Now with Inventor Studio which comes standard with either the Series or Professional you can generate these State-of-art photo-realistic rendering and animations directly within the design environment. Reduce prototyping costs by creating high-quality photorealistic renderings and animations. Improve communication by quickly illustrating concepts for presentations. With Autodesk Inventor Studio you produce state-of-the-art rendering and animations directly in the design environment. Now you have streamlined access to this specialized and typically expensive functionality without having to learn a separate application. This is a great marketing tool for your sales team.

From the Inventor 10 Professional side the enhancements come in the form of incorporating user feedback and maturing existing modules. This can be seen in little changes such as the ability to use frictionless supports when running stress calculations, or the fact that piping is now part of the new content center and not stored as separate data. Inventor 10 Professional continues to close the loop on the engineering solution set that allows for minimal prototyping and maximum success the first time out.

If these enhancements interest you, then I am sure that you will want to spend a few minutes and contact your Hagerman & Company sales representative for additional literature.
